Our first meet was always an unknown quantity. We set The Car Scene up to bring all car enthusiasts together and I think it’s safe to say that it worked!
It could have ended up just 3 of us sat in a field. 4 if you count the donut van! Instead we had 90+ cars through the gates on the day! We expect next meet to be even bigger!
The variety seen was absolutely incredible. We had classic, retro, modified and supercars. We even had a couple of Van’s, a scooter and a bike!
The weather was with us so the cars kept rolling in. What better on a Sunday afternoon than to spend time in the Sun, eatting donuts, drinking just the 1 shandy and looking at cars of all description. This may be the start of many friendships. All of the feedback I have had so far has been very positive and people are wanting more!
Unfortunately as most of you will know by now, myself and Jay couldn’t make it on the day as my dad sadly passed away only an hour before. He had esophageal Cancer that led to Liver secondaries. Even though he had chemo and an 11 hour operation last year, unfortunately it came back to the liver. He fought so hard and he settled everything he wanted to settle prior to his passing. He was a very strong and brave man.
My dad asked my mum to set up a fundraiser for Ashgate Hospice a couple of days before he passed away as he wanted to help them like they helped him. We raised £600 up to when he passed away. He was always asking. We are now up to £1500 (5/8/2020).
Our plan for next event is to hit it bigger and harder! We want to dedicate the next event to my dads memory, in aid of Ashgate Hospice. Along with half of the £2 entry going to Ashgate, the other to the social club, we will also be doing a raffle with all proceeds going to Ashgate. So if you’d like to donate a prize, or buy tickets, please get in touch!
Our next event will be 30/8/2020 at 2pm at the same place, Shirebrook Staff sports and social club.
Let’s make this bigger and better! More cars, more visitors, more hype, more donuts!
Lets do it for Ashgate Hospice. Lets do it for Dad!
