These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of The Car Scene, the website and services at thecarscene.co.uk and thecarscene.app (the "Service", "The Car Scene", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering you confirm you meet this requirement and that any information you provide is accurate.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately at hello@thecarscene.co.uk if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You may delete your account at any time from Settings; this permanently removes your profile, vehicles, messages and activity, and cannot be undone.
The core Service is free to use. Pro is an optional paid subscription for enthusiast accounts offering additional features (unlimited garage vehicles, listing boosts, and similar); Trade tiers are optional paid subscriptions for claimed businesses in the Garages & Tuners directory offering additional visibility. Subscription prices are shown at checkout and on our pricing pages before you pay. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time from your account or business billing settings, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details.
You keep ownership of everything you post, including vehicle details, build logs, modification records, photos, comments and messages ("Your Content"). By posting Your Content you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, display, and distribute it on the Service, and, for anything you mark public, to display it to other visitors and in search results. You are solely responsible for Your Content and must have the right to post it. Do not post anything you don't own, anything that infringes someone else's rights, or anything false, defamatory, or misleading.
You agree not to: post illegal, fraudulent, or misleading content; harass, threaten, or abuse other users; impersonate any person or business; scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service other than through features we provide for that purpose; interfere with or disrupt the Service; or attempt to circumvent any moderation, security, or access-control feature. We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with or without notice, at our discretion.
The Service lets users list vehicles and parts for sale to other users. We are not a party to any sale, do not inspect listed items, and do not guarantee the accuracy of any listing, the condition of any vehicle or part, or the conduct of any buyer or seller. Vehicle history and fault data shown on the Service is drawn from community reports and, where indicated, third-party or official sources, and is provided for reference only, it is not a substitute for an independent vehicle inspection or a professional HPI/data check before you buy. Listing fees are shown before you pay and, except where required by law, are non-refundable once a listing has been published. Disputes about a sale are between the buyer and seller; we may assist but are not obliged to and are not liable for the outcome.
Businesses listed in the Garages & Tuners directory may be claimed by their owner, subject to our review. A claimed business is responsible for the accuracy of its own listing, product feed, and any prices it publishes. Trade subscription fees are billed separately from any personal Pro subscription the same individual may hold, and are described in more detail at the point of purchase.
The Service links to third-party retailers and services, including through affiliate programmes from which we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site.
The Car Scene name, logo, and site design are our property or used under licence, and may not be used without our permission. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of our intellectual property to you.
The Service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of loss. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, or for the accuracy of user-generated content, vehicle history data, or third-party listings. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will take reasonable steps to let existing users know (for example, by email or an in-app notice). Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
