Using the Maintenance Log and Fuel Log to track servicing and running costs, and setting MOT and insurance dates so you get a reminder before either one lapses.
Every vehicle has its own Maintenance Log at Garage > your vehicle > Maintenance, split into two tabs: Maintenance and Fuel Log. It's owner-only, never shown on the public vehicle profile, so it's a genuinely private record rather than something you need to curate for an audience.
From the Maintenance tab, Add Entry opens a form with a type dropdown (Oil Change, Tyre Swap, Brake Pads, Coolant, Cam Belt, MOT, Service, Insurance, or Custom with your own label), a date, mileage, cost, which garage did the work, and optional notes. There's no minimum detail required, even just the date and type is worth logging.
The Fuel Log tab asks for the date, your odometer reading, litres, and pence per litre on each fill-up. Once you've logged two or more fill-ups, a rolling average MPG appears automatically, calculated from the miles covered between fill-ups against the litres used, alongside a running total of what you've spent on fuel.
MOT due date and Insurance renewal date are both set from the Edit Vehicle page, near the bottom, and both are optional. Once set, the Maintenance page shows a status card for each: neutral while there's time left, amber inside 30 days, and red once it's overdue.
Any vehicle with an MOT or insurance date inside 30 days shows up in the Upcoming Dates widget on your dashboard, soonest first, with a direct link back to that vehicle's Maintenance page. You'll also get an email reminder as the date approaches, so you don't need to check the dashboard manually to stay on top of it.
